When you decide to apply for a job there is some information, including documents, and files that you will need to have ready. These include:
- Your resume
- A cover letter
- Your interview preferences
- Question responses, if an employer has included questions in their job post.
You can apply for a job without any of this information, however we strongly encourage you to add as much information about you to each application to give you the best chance of success.
Adding information about your preferred interview format gives you input into the interview process by letting employers know which interview format best suits you. It is also an opportunity to discuss any accessibility preferences or requirements you might have ahead of meeting an employer for the first time. You can provide as much or as little information as you like.
Navigate to the interview section of your job application and select your preferences by checking the boxes.
You can choose from:
- No preference
(you don’t have a preferred interview format) - Phone
(you prefer an interview to happen over the phone) - In person
(you prefer to interview in-person) - Video call
(you prefer to interview via a video call or conference)
You can add in additional interview preferences by choosing one or more of the following options:
- Auslan interpreter present
(you will have an AUSLAN interpreter with you at your interview) - National relay service (NRS)
(you will require the use of the National Relay Service at your interview) - Support worker present
(you will have a support worker with you at your interview) - Offsite interview
(you will need an interview outside of the employers workplace – this may be if the workplace doesn’t meet your accessibility requirements) - Group interview
(you prefer a group interview, rather than a one on one interview)
There is a text box below these options which you can write in if you have preferences or requirements that are not listed. You may not have a preferred interview format, and that's totally fine.
When you’re ready, you can click ‘next: questions’ to take the next step in the application process. If there are no employer questions, you can click ‘preview and submit’.
